After crafting Mentors' Brand Identity, I needed to build a highly-effective website that helps educate leads and convert customers.
The high level goals were to:
- Increase Conversion Rates
- Reduce Bounce Rates
- Ensure More Educated Leads
In addition to heuristic analysis, I analyzed the Mentors website using Google Analytics to gather visitor insights.
This helped me have a better understanding of the website's visitors and their behaviour. Analyzing insights from Google Analytics guided the optimisation process.

The percentage of single-page site visits.
An abnormally high bounce rate is generally a warning that people are leaving the site, and aren’t willing to stick around to explore the rest of your website. However, a number of factors can be responsible for high bounce rates. Anything from the ease of navigation, slow page loads, poor aesthetics, low or irrelevant quality content. Once I identified that there’s a problem, I dug a little further to determine why visitors were leaving.
Average Session Duration
The average length of all site visits combined.
Alongside bounce rate and pages per session, average session duration contributes to the user engagement story by illustrating how long users stay on the site. At the site level, it’s a helpful metric for indicating engagement the true value of the site content.
Average Pages per Session
An average of the number of pages viewed during a visit on the site.
Pages per session broadly gauges how compelling users find your content and the ease of access. For a site like Mentors', the goal is keep visitors engaged, nurture their interest, and get them to take the next step. More pages per session often indicates that visitors are highly engaged and willing to explore more of the site. This is an excellent way of measuring interest and curiosity about the company.
Exploring these metrics allowed me to highlight the key issue. The website was not engaging visitors, hence not prompting them to take the next step.
I use wireframes to lay out content and functionality on a page, while user needs and user journeys taking into account. We create wireframes early in the development process to establish the basic structure of a page before visual design and content is added.
